Davos, January 22 (IANS). Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on Thursday that confidence in India is increasing rapidly all over the world and big international companies and investors are expanding their operations in the country.
In a meeting held on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF), Vaishnav said that India’s development journey, reforms and future-ready infrastructure is attracting the attention of global leaders.
He said that the discussions held in Davos clearly reflected that India is being seen as a trustworthy and reliable partner in global value chains.
The Union Minister said global logistics company Maersk is actively in talks with India to strengthen logistics infrastructure, including shipping, ports and railways.
He further said that the discussions also touched on cooperation in semiconductor related materials, an area important for India’s long-term manufacturing and technology goals.
“Maersk is actively collaborating with India to improve logistics infrastructure including shipping, ports, railways and semiconductor materials,” Vaishnav said.
The Union Minister further said, “Honeywell is partnering with India in railway modernisation. It is keen to expand its manufacturing operations in India.”
He also said that US-based technology company Honeywell is partnering with India in railway modernization and has shown keen interest in expanding its manufacturing operations in the country.
Explaining the interest from investors, the Union Minister said Temasek Chairman Teo Chee Hean has expressed a clear desire to increase Temasek’s presence in India.
He further said that Singapore is committed to investing in India’s physical and digital infrastructure as well as deep-tech startups, reflecting its long-term confidence in India’s economic fundamentals.
“The discussions with leading experts in the field of AI, robotics and cyber security reflect India’s emergence as a trusted value-chain partner,” Vaishnav said.
