New Delhi, March 4 (IANS). Amid the ongoing war between the US-Israel and Iran, social media platform

This step has been taken at a time when there has been a flood of AI generated videos and images during global crises and war-like situations. These highly realistic visuals increase the risk of people being misled and may affect their understanding of actual events happening on the ground.

Nikita Bear, product head of

He wrote in a post on the platform, “In times of war, it is very important for correct and authentic information to reach people. With today’s AI technology, it has become very easy to create content that can mislead people.”

If a creator posts such misleading AI videos even after the 90-day suspension period, he will be permanently locked out of the monetization program.

The new rule will specifically apply to videos that depict armed conflict and do not disclose that they were created with AI.

X said it will use both automated systems and community-based systems to identify misleading AI content.

The platform will use tools that can recognize media created with generative AI. Along with this, the ‘Community Notes’ feature will also be used, in which users can add additional context or fact-check on a post if they find that post misleading.

Community Notes is a key part of X’s strategy when it comes to content moderation, especially since the platform adopted a more decentralized review system.

X’s Creator Revenue Sharing Program provides eligible users with a share of ad revenue based on the engagement they receive on their posts. This scheme was started to increase more content and activity on the platform.

However, many researchers and users have criticized this model. He says paying based on engagement may motivate some creators to post sensational or controversial content in order to get more views and comments.

Some critics also believe that eligibility requirements, such as paid subscriptions, and relatively loose content controls may encourage viral but misleading posts.

At present, the new rule will apply only to war-related content made with AI. It does not directly cover other areas where AI-generated photos and videos are used to spread political misinformation or promote misleading products.
