In the rapidly changing political developments in Bihar, Mukesh Sahni is no longer a part of the state cabinet. On Sunday, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar recommended Governor Fagu Chauhan to relieve him from the state cabinet on a letter from the BJP. According to sources, the Governor has approved the recommendation of the Chief Minister. However, till late night, the Raj Bhavan did not give any official information about this to the media. It is known that Mukesh Sahni was made a minister in the Nitish government only on the recommendation of the BJP. On Sunday, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar received two letters from the BJP to relieve Sahni.
State BJP President Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal and BJP Legislature Party leader and Deputy Chief Minister Tarkishore Prasad sent letters urging the Chief Minister that the three MLAs of Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) are now part of the BJP. He has merged with the BJP Legislature Party. So now there is no MLA left with VIP. Also, VIP is no longer a part of NDA. Therefore Mukesh Sahni should be relieved. After both these letters from the BJP, the Chief Minister recommended the removal of VIP chief Sahni from the cabinet to the Governor.
VIP’s alliance was with BJP itself
In the year 2020 assembly elections, the seat sharing in NDA was between JDU-BJP. After this division of the first phase, the agreement of VIP with BJP and Hum was with JDU. These two main parties of NDA had given seats to VIP and HAM out of their share. Home Minister Amit Shah played a role in the VIP agreement with the BJP. Now when Mukesh Sahni has fielded his candidate in Bochan by-election and despite being in the cabinet from BJP quota, he would have gone to campaign against his candidate as a minister, the situation would have been uncomfortable. Before that he was discharged from the government.
It was decided to withdraw only on March 20
It is said that the removal of VIP chief Mukesh Sahni from the state cabinet was decided on March 20 itself. On this day in the evening, Union Minister of State for Home and senior leader of Bihar BJP Nityanand Rai met Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. If reliable sources are to be believed, the vote regarding the party’s central leadership and state unit’s Mukesh Sahni was conveyed to the head of the government by Mr. Rai.
After this, after the legislature session on March 23, BJP President Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal, Deputy Chief Minister Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi along with the three VIP MLAs – Raju Singh, Swarna Singh and Mishrilal Yadav met Vidhan Sabha Speaker Vijay Sinha in his chamber. handed over a letter of support. After this, the Speaker of the Assembly approved the merger of these three with the BJP. Late night, the three MLAs also joined the BJP.
BJP was constantly demanding resignation from Mukesh Sahni
Since the number of MLAs was zero, BJP was continuously demanding resignation from Mukesh Sahni on moral grounds. Many MLAs, including State President Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal, even the minister of BJP quota in the government, advised them to resign through a statement given in the media. However, after a press conference on the morning of March 24, Sahni had announced that he would not resign and would continue working in the government.
Mukesh Sahni’s distance from BJP increased due to UP elections
The distance between BJP and VIP had started increasing from the Uttar Pradesh elections itself. However, BJP tried to give message to Mukesh Sahni many times in its own way. When he went to UP for the first time to install the idol of Phoolan Devi, he had to come back from the airport itself. But during the election campaign, Mukesh Sahni attacked the BJP fiercely.
