With the arrival of summer, the demand for electricity in the capital Delhi increases rapidly. The capital needs at least 8,000 MW of electricity in the months of May and June. However, the central government has decided to give a major part of the power to the neighboring state of Haryana. The ministry says that Delhi itself has decided to give up so much electricity. However, the Delhi government says that due to this move of the Center, there will be a power crisis in the capital.
A new debate has erupted between Delhi and the central government regarding this matter. In an order issued by the Secretary, Ministry of Power on March 28, it has been said, ‘In view of the quantum of power released by the Delhi Government at Dadri-II Power Station and the desire of the Government of Haryana, it has been decided that 728 MW power will be available with effect from April 1, 2022. Haryana will be given by 21 October 2022.
After this, the Union Ministry has decided not to supply electricity to Delhi from NTPC’s Dadri Power Plant. However, the Electricity Department in Delhi says that this order of the Center is wrong. The Delhi government says that it has been decided to release 750 MW of electricity from Dadri 1 plant only. However, the power requirement from Dadri II Power Plant will always be there. Let us inform that on 30 November 2020 itself, the Delhi Government had decided to surrender the electricity of Dadri I Power Plant.
Responding to the question of Hindustan Times, the spokesperson of the Union Ministry of Power also showed the letter of the Delhi government, in which it was asked to surrender the share of electricity of 11 power plants in Delhi and this included Dadri II power plant. Although this letter was written in 2015.
