Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik has once again criticized the central government for the farmers’ agitation. In a program in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, Governor Satya Pal Malik said that if the demands of the farmers are not met, they may adopt the path of violence.
Malik said, ‘My advice to Delhi is not to fight with them, they are dangerous people.’ He also claimed that he has no fear of losing his post for raising the issue of farmers. “Farmers will get what they want,” he said. If it is not found through talks, they will fight and take it. If not found by fighting, they will take it through violence.
Referring to nearly a year-long farmers’ agitation against the Centre’s agricultural laws, Malik said, “Their mouth cannot be shut. They know how to get their demands fulfilled. If these demands are not met, they will start their agitation again. Malik, who had earlier criticized the Center and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue of farmers’ agitation, said there has always been an apprehension that a ‘call from Delhi’ might come if he talks about farmers.
The governor said, ‘I live in a one-and-a-half-room house in Delhi, so I can mess with Modi on the issue of farmers. I can.’ Reiterating his old remark, Malik said that earlier also when he had met the Prime Minister on the issue of farmers, they had fought in just five minutes.
Referring to the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by bodyguards, Governor Malik said, “I told her that Sikhs and Jats don’t forget anything. You should give them something and send it. He remembered Indira too. Malik was participating in a book release program of Marwar Jat Mahasabha in Jodhpur.
