In the viral video, a young man is seen performing marriage rituals with three girls. It is being claimed that the three girls are sisters. Initially people considered it to be a content created for social media, but later all four released a video saying that they had actually got married of their own free will. After this the matter moved from social media to legal debate. Many people are raising the question, citing the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, whether a man can marry three women simultaneously?

According to reports, this case is from Amroha district. The names of the girls are said to be Saroj, Savitri and Santosh. Two of them are real sisters, while the third one is said to be her cousin. The name of the youth has been mentioned as Vikas. In the viral video, Vikas is seen performing wedding rituals with all three, applying vermilion and getting photographs clicked. In the video released later, all four said that it was not any kind of content shoot, but they got married as per their wish.
The girls say that they have grown up together since childhood and did not want to live in separate houses after marriage. She claims that when the family was preparing to get her married to different people, she was mentally disturbed. She also said that at one time she even thought of committing suicide, but later decided to marry the same person to live together.
Vikas also said in the video that he understood the deep affection between the three, so he decided to marry all three. According to reports, Saroj has studied B.Tech, while Savitri and Santosh are educated till 12th. It is being told that Vikas used to shoot her social media videos earlier and was playing the role of her on-screen husband in her content for the last six months.
Is this marriage legally valid?
This question is at the center of this entire matter. According to the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, a second marriage of a Hindu man or woman while he or she has a living spouse is not legally valid under normal circumstances. However, no government agency or court in this case has yet confirmed whether the rituals shown in the viral video were a legally valid marriage or not.
On the other hand, the administration of the Maa Chamunda temple where the marriage is claimed to be taking place has also denied having knowledge of any such incident. According to the temple administration, at the time the video was recorded, repair and decoration work was going on in the temple. There was no priest or staff present there, so they have no knowledge of any such marriage. At present this video is becoming increasingly viral on social media. However, the legal validity of the marriage and other aspects related to it have not yet been officially confirmed by any competent government authority.
