Six trainee lawyers, including three Indians, who had applied to practice law in Singapore withdrew their applications on Monday. He took this step after information about him cheating in the 2020 bar exam came to light. According to media reports, Monisha Devaraj, Kushal Atul Shah, Sriram Ravindran, Matthew Cho Jup Feng, Lionen Wong Chung Yeung and Lin Kuik Yi Ting have withdrawn their applications for advocacy.
According to a report by Channel News Asia on Monday, the five accused had shared answers to six exam questions through WhatsApp, while Kuik had colluded with another candidate for three question papers. The High Court judge allowed all six trainee lawyers to withdraw their respective bar applications. It is noteworthy that before practicing law in Singapore, law graduate students have to become a member of the Bar and for that they have to pass the examination.
