Uttar Pradesh News: In Nautanwan town of Maharajganj district of Uttar Pradesh, women troubled by the scorching heat and lack of rain brought a unique tradition in wishing good rain.
According to local belief, if an impressive or famous person is bathed with mud and water, Indradev is happy and rain.
Playing this custom, on Sunday, the women of Nautanwan bathed the BJP leader and former municipality president Guddu Khan with mud singing Kajri. During this time, his hands and feet were lightly tied to ropes and mud and water were poured from the buckets.
The video of this incident was shared on social media platform X with several handles including @Journoarpit, which is becoming increasingly viral. In the video, women are seen singing traditional Kajri songs with enthusiasm, while Guddu Khan is joining this ritual.
Supporting this tradition, Guddu Khan said, “This is our old cultural heritage. When there was no rain in earlier times, the head of the village or the king was bathed with Kajri songs. I am happy that I became a part of this custom. Hopefully Indradev will bless the rain soon.”
Local people believe that this tradition is played every year and after that it rains. This time too, women performed this ritual under the leadership of Sonakali Devi, Paramjyoti Devi, Savitri Devi, Aarti, Pyari, Mansa Devi, Neeha Nisha, Amravati Devi, Chameli Khatoon, Shalu and Maya Devi.
