A local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader was allegedly burnt to death under suspicious circumstances in a village in Rabupura area of Greater Noida. The family members came to know about the incident in the morning. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the police reached the spot, took possession of the body and sent it for postmortem. Police are interrogating the family and nearby people.
Veerpal alias Pappan (45), resident of Mirzapur village of Rabupura police station area, was the booth president of BJP. He is having a dispute with his wife over some issue. Due to this dispute, his wife lived in Dankaur while Pappan lived in the village with his seven-year old daughter.
Police station in-charge Raj Kumar said on Friday that Virendra, a resident of Mirzapur village, had gone with his family to his sister’s house for the Bhaat Bharai program on Wednesday. Returned home around 10 pm on Wednesday night. At night he went to the room above the house and slept. When Virendra did not reach the booth at the time of voting for the elections on Thursday morning, BJP workers went to his house, after which information about Virendra’s death was received.
The station in-charge said that Virendra’s body was burnt. Police have sent the body for postmortem. No complaint has been made so far by the family in the matter. Virendra’s wife was living separately from him.
Whether it was murder, suicide or accident, nothing is known yet. The situation will become clear only after the postmortem report comes. The police are investigating the case keeping all the aspects in mind.
