French President Emmanuel Macron is visiting India on an official visit from 17 to 19 February 2026. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had invited him to visit India. The Foreign Ministry has confirmed this visit on Tuesday. During this visit, many important issues will be discussed between the two countries and strategic partnership will be strengthened.

What will be Macron’s program in India?
President Macron will be in New Delhi on 17 and 18 February where he will be officially welcomed and will hold bilateral talks. Apart from this he will also go to Mumbai. His focus will be on innovation and business activities in Mumbai. On February 19, he will participate in the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi. Many big technology leaders from America and France are also participating in this summit.
What will be the issue on Rafale deal and trade?
Just before this tour, there are reports of the Defense Ministry getting approval for 114 Rafale fighter jets. This deal could be worth around Rs 3.25 lakh crore. Apart from this, both the leaders will also discuss the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and the European Union. Its objective is to increase trade between the two countries.
Which specific issues will be the focus?
This visit is taking place under the Horizon 2047 roadmap which will decide the direction of relations between India and France for the next 25 years. The talks included topics like the Indo-Pacific region, space, civil nuclear energy and digital governance. Both the leaders will also start the year 2026 as ‘India-France Year of Innovation’.
