There is an important news for expatriates and local citizens living in Kuwait. Kuwait’s Public Food and Nutrition Authority (PAFN) has issued an emergency alert regarding certain batches of infant formula. Authorities have directed to immediately remove some containers of Bebelac and Aptamil manufactured by Danone company from the market and not to use them. This decision has been taken due to the fear of possible presence of Cereulide, a poison produced by bacteria.

Kuwait authorities have appealed to consumers to check the batch number and expiry date of the milk cartons kept at home. If you have any of the containers listed below, do not give it to children.

The administration has ordered all stores and shops to immediately remove the stock of these batch numbers from the shelves and stop their sale. Those who have already purchased this milk can return it to the shop from where it was purchased. In such cases, the company provides the facility of full refund or replacement with a safe batch. Keep in mind that the poison named Cereulide does not get eliminated even by boiling water, hence caution is the only protection.
If your child has drunk milk from these batches and is experiencing problems like vomiting, nausea or stomach pain, take him to the nearest hospital immediately. Although no official report of anyone falling ill has been received in Kuwait yet, the department has taken this step as a safety precaution.
