The Qatar government has asked Iran to immediately stop its attacks on regional countries and residential areas. Qatar also rejected the proposal of Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in which he had called for a joint investigation into the attacks. According to the official report till March 16, 2026, damage has been seen in many industrial and civilian areas of Qatar. To deal with the situation, the Qatar government has deployed its army to protect important targets.
What was the conversation between Qatar and Iran
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Majid al-Ansari said in a press briefing on Monday that there is no need for any investigation in this matter. He made it clear that the attacking party will have to decide for itself whether to stop the aggression. Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani has also described these attacks as a blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty. He clarified that Qatar has the full right to self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.
On the other hand, Iran’s minister claims that America and Israel are attacking Arab countries by using drones like Iran’s ‘Shahed’ to defame their country.
Which major places were affected by the attacks?
Qatari official sources have confirmed that the recent attacks have targeted civilian and industrial infrastructure rather than military targets. Qatar’s Defense Ministry foiled 17 ballistic missile and 6 drone attacks on March 9 and 10.
Mesaieed: A water tank connected to a power plant was targeted in this area.
Ras Laffan: This is an industrial city where a QatarEnergy facility was attacked.
Hamad International Airport: Explosions have been reported in areas around Qatar’s main airport.
Residential areas: Missiles have also fallen near the houses of civilians, which Qatar has described as direct attacks.
What is the update for migrants and general public
Qatar’s Home Ministry has shared an important information for millions of Indians and other expatriates living in Qatar. The ministry has assured all residents that the entire stock of food and drinking water in the country is safe. Despite attacks on infrastructure, people do not need to panic. Apart from this, Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz to American and their allied ships, but the movement of ordinary commercial ships still continues.
