Saudi Arabia has strongly expressed its views on the rights of the Palestinian people in the United Nations Security Council. The Kingdom reiterated its demand for a two-state solution in high-level meetings held on 18 and 19 February 2026. Saudi Arabia says East Jerusalem should be made the capital of Palestine along the 1967 borders. Ambassador Dr. Abdulaziz Alwasil said that Israel’s current policies are a major obstacle to peace.
What demands did Saudi Arabia make in the UN meeting?
Saudi Arabia has described Israel’s registration of land and new construction in the West Bank as illegal. Ambassador Alwasil said that these steps are an attempt to erase the existence of the state of Palestine. Saudi Arabia has demanded that all routes be opened to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza during and before Ramadan. He has also emphasized on the security of aid organizations like UNRWA.
$5 billion fund and future plan for Gaza
The reconstruction of Gaza was discussed at the Board of Peace meeting held in Washington. Saudi Arabia also participated in this new body and advocated an international force and an interim government to restore peace in Gaza. In this meeting, an amount of more than 5 billion dollars has been promised for the rehabilitation of Gaza.
