Saudi Arabia has decided to invest on a large scale in Syria, which will mark a new beginning in the trade relations between the two countries. Syrian Investment Authority head Talal al-Hilali said on 3 February 2026 that Saudi companies are going to start a new private airline there. Many projects related to airport and telecom are going to be approved in a big agreement to be signed on Saturday.
Who will handle the work of the new airline and airport?
Under this new project, a private airline will be started in Syria, which will include money and technical help from Saudi Arabia. According to the report, this airline will start its service with more than a dozen aircraft. Saudi budget airlines flynas and flyadeal have already started flights to Damascus, which has provided great convenience to the travelers.
In addition, Saudi Ben Daoud Company may get the job of redeveloping and running Aleppo International Airport. After the restrictions are lifted in December 2025, this airport will now be made suitable for international flights. The company aims to equip the airport with modern facilities so that it can be reopened.
What is the plan for telecom and internet?
Saudi Arabia has also made major preparations to improve Syria’s telecom infrastructure. For this, a budget of about 4 billion riyals i.e. 1.07 billion dollars has been kept. Big companies like Saudi Telecom Company (STC) and GO Telecom are participating in it. These agreements are expected to be signed this month.
Fiber optic network will be expanded so that the internet runs faster. New internet points will be installed in Damascus and Haleb. Cyber security and data center will be strengthened.
All these agreements have become possible after the change of power 14 months ago and the removal of American sanctions. The Saudi government will also provide insurance cover to its companies for investment so that the work can be done without any hindrance.
