Preparations are underway to keep the mortal remains of late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in the Grand Mosque of Tehran for the final farewell. However, keeping in mind the huge crowd gathered from across the country and the security arrangements, the previously scheduled Wednesday night program has been postponed for the time being. The administration says that they want to make better and safe arrangements for the lakhs of people coming.

Delay in farewell ceremony and new security instructions
Hojjatul Islam Syed Mohsen Mahmoudi has said in an official statement that the main reason for postponing the farewell ceremony is the huge demand from the public and strengthening of security arrangements. Tehran’s streets and Musalla area are being prepared to welcome millions of people. The new dates for this three-day long farewell program will be announced soon through the government TV channel. At present the IRGC has taken over the responsibility of security of the capital.
40 days of national mourning and update for migrants
The Government of Iran has declared 40 days of national mourning across the country at this tragic time. Also, a national holiday of 7 days is in force from March 1, which will affect government and private institutions. Expatriates living in Gulf countries and those traveling there have been advised to follow the security alerts.
