Kuwait National Guard (KNG) has issued a very serious warning to the general public and expatriates. Security forces have launched a campaign named ‘You See It as a Picture, the Enemy Sees It as Information’. This simply means that what you consider to be just a simple picture or video and share it on social media, can prove to be an important intelligence information for the enemy. The warning comes at a time when Kuwait’s military has recently prevented 178 missile and 354 drone attacks.

What does the enemy know from photos and videos?

The awareness brochure distributed by the National Guard states that a small mistake can jeopardize the security of the country. When a person posts photos of soldiers, roads or incidents happening in the sky, it lets the enemy know the movement and timing of the army.

Additionally, the images also leak logistics information such as routes, entrances and exits, and supply routes. With the help of these photographs, the enemy finds out the exact location (Geography) of sensitive places and can take advantage of it by understanding the daily routine (Behavioral Data) of the people.

Breaking the rules can result in jail and fine

Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior and the Army have made it clear that no leniency will be shown to those who violate security rules. A complete ban has been imposed on flying drones and any kind of aerial photography across the country from March 3, 2026. Taking photos or making videos of missile interception or soldiers on duty is strictly prohibited.

Interior Minister Sheikh Fahd Youssef Saud Al-Sabah has said that those broadcasting unauthorized footage will be prosecuted under ‘Cybercrime and State Security Laws’. According to Kuwaiti laws, engaging in such activities can result in a fine of up to 5,000 Kuwaiti dinars and a prison sentence of up to 3 years. Indians and other expatriates living in Kuwait are advised not to pay attention to rumors and rely only on official announcements.
