The UAE Defense Ministry confirmed on Saturday, March 21, 2026, that the country’s air defense systems have successfully destroyed 3 ballistic missiles and 8 drones sent by Iran in the air. The action was taken in the early hours of Saturday after midnight when loud explosions were heard in the sky. The ministry said that the security agencies are fully prepared to deal with any threat and the situation is being monitored.

What is the attack and the security situation so far?
The UAE’s air defense systems showed promptness on Saturday and stopped these threats before they could reach populated areas. This is another major success of the security forces after the ongoing regional tension since 28 February 2026. These attacks have so far resulted in the loss of lives of two members of the armed forces and six civilians, including citizens of India’s neighboring countries Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal. A total of 158 people have been injured who are undergoing treatment.
Important instructions for migrants and common citizens
The UAE government has issued strict instructions regarding the safety of the people. In particular, Indians and other expatriates living there should keep these things in mind:
Do not share any kind of ‘incorrect’ or unverified videos on social media. Recently 109 people have been arrested in Abu Dhabi for spreading misinformation. Trust only news provided by official government media and ministries. In case of emergency, follow the safety instructions given by the local administration.
Along with this, warnings of bad weather, rain and strong winds have also been given in UAE from Saturday 21st March till next Friday. People have been advised to exercise caution while going out. President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has also talked to leaders of other countries regarding the stability of the region.
