Jaipur. While the Madhya Pradesh Police took immediate action and arrested the owner of the company in the case of death of 24 innocent people due to poisonous chemical in cough syrup, the BJP government of the neighboring state of Rajasthan seems to be giving a clean chit to the company in this serious matter. This contradictory action has now gained political significance, after which former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has strongly condemned the Rajasthan government. He said- There is no such thing as government in Rajasthan.
Let us tell you that in Chhindwara and Betul districts of Madhya Pradesh, 20 children died after drinking ‘Coldrif’ cough syrup. Showing seriousness in this matter, the Madhya Pradesh government has arrested Ranganathan, the owner of Srisan Pharmaceuticals Company, from Chennai. Information has come to light that Ranganathan was absconding after the death of the innocent people. Investigation revealed that the amount of Diethylene Glycol in the syrup was several times more than the prescribed limit, due to which the children’s kidneys failed. After the fatal negligence, the state government immediately banned all the products of Shreesan Pharma. Apart from this, Dr Praveen Soni, who prescribed the syrup, has also been arrested, whose bail plea has been rejected by the Additional Sessions Judge (ADJ). State Health Minister Narendra Shivaji Patel confirmed the SIT investigation and said no culprit would be spared.
While Madhya Pradesh and other states are taking the strictest action, Rajasthan Medical Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar has surprised everyone by saying that the children did not die due to cough syrup. This statement of the Minister is like giving a clean chit to the company, whereas this syrup remains a matter of concern across the country.
Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot attacked the BJP government and said that ‘there is no such thing as government’ in Rajasthan. Gehlot alleged that leave aside the Chief Minister, even MLAs and MPs are not being heard, in such a situation how will the public get relief? He said that there is an uproar among the public, the bureaucracy is not listening to anyone, due to which a question mark has been raised on law and order in the state. Political experts believe that this different stance of two state governments on the same pharmaceutical company raises big questions on the health and administrative seriousness of the Rajasthan government.
