Before Tejashwi Yadav, NDA leader and CM Nitish Kumar in Bihar had announced that if he forms the government in the state again, he will provide employment to 1 crore youth in the next five years. Who among Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav is in a position to provide jobs and employment to the youth of Bihar, it will be known after the results of Bihar Assembly elections on 14 November 2025, but it is also important to look at the data related to unemployment in Bihar.
When Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav were running the government of Bihar together, they had conducted a caste survey in the state in 2023. The report of that survey shows that there are 2.97 crore families in Bihar. According to the same report of caste survey, the population of Bihar is 130725310 i.e. about 13 crores. In the report of the caste survey conducted by the government of Nitish and Tejashwi, without giving numbers, it was told that the annual unemployment rate in the year 2022-23 was 3.9 percent. Whereas, according to the Economic Survey, the unemployment rate in 2023-24 was higher than the national average i.e. 4.3 percent. That is, there is a lot of unemployment in Bihar and due to this the rate of migration of youth to other states is also high. CM Nitish Kumar had claimed on July 13 that from 2005 to 2020, more than 8 lakh youth of Bihar were given jobs. At the same time, Tejashwi Yadav had claimed to provide 5 lakh jobs during his 17-month tenure as Deputy CM of Bihar. Thus, according to the data given by Nitish and Tejashwi, 13 lakh youth of Bihar have got jobs in the last 20 years.
