While the anger of the public in Nepal overthrew the current power there, on the other hand, in France, there was a large -scale violence on Wednesday. The protesters blocked the roads, arson and faced tear gas released by the police.
200 protesters arrested
The purpose of these demonstrations is to pressurize President Emmanuel Macron and give an initial challenge to his new Prime Minister. The French Home Minister said that about 200 protesters were arrested in the first few hours of protests organized at the national level. Although the purpose of the protesters was to “stop everything”, this movement, which started online and gained vigor during summer, caused disturbance in the whole country.
Train services disrupted
Despite the deployment of 80,000 policemen, barricades were installed in many places and the police had to take action to break them. In the western city of Raines, protesters set a bus on fire, while train services were disrupted due to damage to a power line in the south-west. Home Minister Bruno Ritilo alleged that the protesters were trying to create an “atmosphere of rebellion”.
Sebastian Lacornu appointed the new Prime Minister of France
Meanwhile, President Macron appointed his Defense Minister Sebastian Lecornu as the new Prime Minister of France and immediately assigned him to unite the political parties of the country and agreed to the budget. Lacornu, 39, has been the youngest Defense Minister in the history of France and prepared a military strengthening plan till 2030 between the Russian-Ukraine War. Lacornu, who has been close to Macron for a long time, has become the fourth Prime Minister of France in the last one year. In the past, he was associated with Conservative politics, but joined the Macron’s Central Party in 2017. He has worked in local governments, Overseas Territories and tried to calm the anger through dialogue during the “Yellow West” movement. In 2021, at the time of unrest in Guadeloop, he also offered talks on autonomy.
Earlier on Monday, the MPs passed the no -confidence motion and removed the former Prime Minister François Bayaru and his government, causing a new political crisis in front of Europe’s second largest economy.
