Relations between Germany and India got a new dimension on Monday. Germany has taken a big decision to start visa free transit facility from its airport for Indian passport holders. There has also been talk of increasing cooperation in many other areas.

Germany has taken a big decision to start visa free transit facility from its airport for Indian passport holders. This was announced in an India-Germany joint statement on Monday. With this new facility, Indian passengers will not need a separate transit visa to pass through German airports. This step will make international travel easier and faster. This decision of Germany will not only make travel easier but will also give new strength to mutual relations and tourism between India and Germany.

Sealing of 19 important agreements

According to PTI report, India and Germany on Monday announced measures to increase cooperation in the fields of defence, trade, essential minerals and semiconductors. Prime Minister Modi and Chancellor Friedrich Merz promised to strengthen relations between the two countries to jointly tackle global challenges. After talks between the leaders, the two countries signed a total of 19 agreements. It also includes a roadmap for defense industrial cooperation and an agreement on enhancing cooperation in the higher education sector.

Big agreement in the field of post, express and logistics

India and Germany took a major step towards further strengthening their mutual cooperation in the field of post, express and logistics. India and Germany signed an agreement to enhance cooperation in postal, express and logistics services to promote cross-border e-commerce and time bound international supplies. The agreement aims to improve cross-border e-commerce trade and timely supply of goods internationally. The agreement will help in making mutual trade more simple and effective.

Exports will increase, logistics system will be strengthened

The statement said that this cooperation will increase exports and also improve the quality of services, which will strengthen the Indian logistics system. Easy access to international markets will greatly help Indian businessmen to expand their business globally and create a new identity. This step will prove to be very beneficial for increasing the share of Indian businesses in the international market.

business will get a boost

Through the agreement, India and Germany will jointly start a premium international express service. The service will utilize the global logistics strength of India Post’s vast network and the global express and logistics network of Germany’s Deutsche Post-DHL Group. With this, the delivery of goods sent from India to abroad will now be faster and more reliable than before. Besides, it will also become very easy for the customers to do complete monitoring of the goods from sending till receiving. This will boost international trade.

Cooperation will also increase in the field of defense and security

According to Univarta report, in the field of defense and security, both the countries have agreed to increase cooperation in military exercises, training and defense industry as well as to fight together against terrorism. On the trade and economy front, both sides expressed happiness over bilateral trade crossing $50 billion. Along with this, both the countries have supported the completion of the Free Trade Agreement between India and the European Union as soon as possible so that economic relations can be further strengthened.

Cooperation also on semiconductor, minerals and innovation

In the talks, both the countries also emphasized on increasing cooperation in the areas of technology, semiconductor, critical minerals and innovation. Both countries also reiterated their commitment to further cooperation in renewable energy, green hydrogen and climate action. Both leaders supported free and rules-based navigation system in the Indo-Pacific. Also expressed similar views on global peace and UN reforms.

Announcement of visa-free transit facility

Both the countries took a major initiative to promote contacts between their citizens. Germany announced visa free transit facility for Indian passport holders. The visa-free transit facility means that Indian travelers passing through German airports on their way to another country will not have to apply for a separate transit visa. This move will make international travel easier for Indian citizens. This will strengthen the mutual relations between the citizens of both the countries. PM Modi has welcomed this decision.
