Panchkula, October 21 (). An FIR has been registered against former Punjab DGP Mohammad Mustafa and his wife and former Punjab Cabinet Minister Razia Sultana in the suspicious death of their son Akhil Akhtar.
Akhil Akhtar died on the late night of 16 October at his MDC residence in Panchkula. The family initially said it was a death due to medicine overdose.
On August 27, a video of Akhil Akhtar surfaced, in which he mentioned the illicit relationship between his father and his wife and made serious allegations against the family members of conspiring to murder him. In this video, he had also made serious allegations against his mother Razia Sultana and sister.
On the basis of this video and allegations, his neighbor Shamsuddin Chaudhary, living in Malerkotla, had submitted a complaint to the Panchkula Police Commissioner. Acting on this complaint, Mata Mansa Devi police station of Panchkula has registered a case under 103 (1), 61 BNS against four people including former DGP Mohammad Mustafa, his wife Razia Sultana, daughter-in-law and daughter and started investigation.
Akhil Akhtar was a lawyer in Punjab and Haryana High Court. After the FIR was registered in this case, the troubles of former DGP Mohammad Mustafa and his family have increased.
35-year-old Akil Akhtar, son of former Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Mohammad Mustafa, was taken to the hospital at around 9.30 pm on October 16, but by then he had died, after which the police registered a case and started investigation.
Let us tell you that Akil’s father Mohammad Mustafa was a 1985 batch IPS officer. He retired from the post of DGP in the year 2021. After this he decided to enter politics and joined the Congress Party. He was also an advisor to Navjot Singh Sidhu.
Police officials said that the case is progressing as the investigation is underway. The accused will be arrested soon.
