Jaipur. The Rajasthan government has made a major administrative reshuffle late on Wednesday night and transferred 34 IPS officers. In this list, the posts of many DG and ADG level officers including Jaipur Police Commissioner have been changed. Five officers have also been given additional charge.
Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph has been transferred to the post of ADG Police Personnel. In his place, Sachin Mittal has been appointed as the new Police Commissioner of Jaipur. Sachin Mittal was earlier working as ADG Police Personnel. Now he will take charge of the law and order and security management of the capital. The state government has made senior IPS officer Dinesh MN as ADG, in-charge of Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) and Anti Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Jaipur. Dinesh MN is known for his strict administrative stance and experience in crime control. His appointment is being seen as a sign of tough action on growing organized crime and gangster networks in the state.
Vishal Bansal, who till now was serving as ADG Law and Order, has been made ADG Special Operation Group (SOG). SOG has the responsibility of investigating cases related to paper leaks, recruitment examination scams and organized crimes. Vishal Bansal will now monitor these sensitive matters.
V.K. Singh has been transferred from the post of ADG SOG-ATS to ADG Law and Order. During his tenure, massive action was taken in many paper leak cases including SI Recruitment Examination-2021. Now he has been given the important responsibility of maintaining law and order in the entire state.
Govind Gupta, a 1993 batch IPS officer, has been appointed as DG, Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB). Recently, amid questions raised on the security arrangements of the jail department, he had taken many strict steps as jail DG. Now he has been given the command of the anti-corruption agency.
Sanjay Aggarwal, who till now was holding the post of DG Intelligence, has been made DG Law and Order. 1992 batch IPS officer Sanjay Aggarwal was also considered a major contender for the post of DGP. Now he has been given the big responsibility of maintaining peace and security of the state.
Anand Srivastava has been appointed DG, Special Operations and Ashok Rathod has been appointed DG, Prisons. Meanwhile, 1994 batch IPS officer Anil Paliwal has been appointed as DG, Training and Traffic. Paliwal was earlier serving in the Telecom and Traffic Department.
For the first time, the post of Special Police Commissioner (Operations) has been created in the capital Jaipur. Rahul Prakash has been appointed to this new post. Earlier he was working on the post of Jaipur IG. The objective of this post is to make field operations and prompt action in the capital more effective.
The government has also assigned additional charge to five senior officers. Sanjay Kumar Aggarwal has been given additional charge of DG, Police Housing. Biju George Joseph has been appointed as ADG, Reorganization and Rules, V.K. Singh has been given the additional charge of ADG, Cyber Crime and Technical Services, Ajaypal Lamba has been given the additional charge of IG, Railways and Cyber Crime and Ajay Singh has been given the additional charge of IG, Intelligence.
This comprehensive reshuffle is being seen as an effort by the government to strengthen law and order, curb corruption and control crime. It is clear from the change in responsibilities at Jaipur and state level that the government is now working towards making policing more accountable and result oriented.
