Uttarakhand News: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached Tehri Garhwal on Monday and inaugurated the nine-day 49th Shri Kunjapuri Tourism and Development Fair by formally hoisting the flag. This annual festival is no longer just a center of faith but has also become a ‘development festival’ giving a new direction to local development and tourism with the announcements of the Chief Minister.
At the inauguration of the fair, Chief Minister Dhami announced various development schemes worth more than ₹78 crore for the Tehri area including reconstruction of canals, community buildings, paving of roads and beautification of several important temples, which will be included in the Chief Minister announcements.
New energy to local development and tourism
After inaugurating the huge development exhibition and inspecting the stalls at the fair, the Chief Minister garlanded the statues of the immortal martyrs. He said that this historical fair, which is being organized continuously since 1974, is a symbol of folk faith, cultural heritage and glorious tradition.
Chief Minister Dhami said:
“This Kunjapuri fair will now become a festival that will give impetus to local development, trade and tourism. Our culture is not just customs, but a positive ideology that inspires us.”
He reiterated the commitment of the state government under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that continuous work is being done on the conservation of religious places and maintaining its identity for the overall development of Uttarakhand.
Youth gained confidence through transparent appointments
During this period, the Chief Minister mentioned the work done in the field of employment and good governance. He said that after the implementation of strong anti-copying law, appointments have been provided to more than 26,000 youth in the state with transparency, which has strengthened the confidence of the youth in the government.
Describing the direction of development of the state, he said that migration is the biggest problem, to prevent which local products are being recognized in the country and abroad through the ‘House of Himalaya’ brand. Schemes like Farm Machinery Bank, Film Policy and Homestay are strengthening the local economy.
Resolution for Uniform Civil Code and Good Governance
On this occasion, Chief Minister Dhami also mentioned the major decisions of the state government:
Uttarakhand has become the first state in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) law.
The state has got a new identity due to works like anti-conversion law and demolition of illegal encroachments.
Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal said that Maa Kunjapuri Fair provides a big platform to advance our culture and get acquainted with the culture of the country and the state.
On this occasion, many cabinet ministers, mayors, MLAs and senior administrative officials were present, who along with Chief Minister Dhami paid tribute to the immortal martyrs and participated in the grandeur of the fair.
