New Delhi, 20 September (IANS). Former G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant said on Saturday that US President Donald Trump’s decision to levy an annual fee of $ 1,00,000 on H-1B visa will be a hindrance to innovation in the US itself while it will benefit Indian IT and tech companies.
In fact, the new decision taken by US President Donald Trump regarding H-1B visa is being seen as a major shock for Indian tech professionals and big tech companies working in the US.
Meanwhile, Kant wrote on the social media platform X, “Donald Trump’s H-1B fee will reduce innovation in the US and increase India’s growth in the US. America is closing the doors for global talent, labs, patents, innovation and startup Next Waves of Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune and Gurgaon.”
He further said that India’s best doctors, engineers, scientists and innovators will get a chance to contribute to the development and progress of the country in the goal of developed India.
He said, “America’s loss, India will benefit.”
Entrepreneur and investor Kunal Bahl said that due to the new H-1B visa rules, many talented people are going to return to India.
He wrote, “It will be difficult to change your base initially, but it will be beneficial for him given so many opportunities in India. The ability of talent in India is increasing rapidly.”
According to Trump’s new announcement, now every application will have to pay a fee of $ 100,000 per year. This is an attempt to prevent the misuse of visa programs and promote domestic employees in the US.
Signing the announcement at the White House on Friday, Trump said it aims to give jobs to American employees.
Trump further said, “We need employees. We need good employees and this new step will ensure this.”
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnik also defended the move, saying that this policy would prevent companies from hiring foreign employees.
