Rahul Gandhi's 'hydrogen bomb' proved to be just a firecracker: Devendra Fadnavis

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday said Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s “hydrogen bomb” comment on alleged vote theft has ultimately proved to be a “small firecracker”.

Speaking to reporters, Fadnavis said Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi seems to be running an agenda that is in line with foreign forces that want to destabilize India’s democracy.

It is noteworthy that Rahul Gandhi had recently said that his party will soon make “hydrogen bomb” like revelations regarding “vote theft”.

At a press conference held in Delhi on Wednesday, Gandhi, while showing a presentation titled “H-Files”, had alleged that the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections were “stolen”. He had claimed that 25 lakh entries in the voter list were fake and the Election Commission colluded with the BJP to ensure its victory.

When asked about the Congress leader’s allegations of vote theft, Fadnavis said, “Rahul Gandhi’s hydrogen bomb turned out to be very weak, in fact it was a small firecracker.”

He said, “What Rahul Gandhi is doing and his agenda both match those international forces who do not want democracy to function properly in India. These forces want to weaken people’s trust in the democratic institutions of the country and Rahul Gandhi is also doing the same.

On Shiv Sena (Ubatha) chief and former chief minister Uddhav Thackeray’s visit to Marathwada, Fadnavis said his efforts to criticize the grand alliance government on issues like farmer loan waiver are in view of the upcoming local body elections.

Fadnavis said, “I am happy that Uddhav Thackeray is coming out, because when he was the Chief Minister and the farmers were in trouble, he did not come out of the house. At least now he realizes that it is necessary to go among the public. But the public knows that he is going to them because of the upcoming elections.

Elections for 246 Municipal Councils and 42 Nagar Panchayats in Maharashtra are to be held on December 2.

The Chief Minister said that the amount of the relief package announced by the state government for the farmers affected by the floods in August-September is being deposited in their accounts. He said, “The remaining farmers will also be given funds soon.”

Fadnavis said, “I don’t think that Uddhav Thackeray’s visit will get him public support, no matter how hard he tries.”
