Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel have arrested at least 30 Nepalis from various places near the Nepal border and increased vigilance along the border to prevent infiltration. These prisoners were trying to enter Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, taking advantage of protests and unrest in Nepal, which are adjacent to Nepal.
SSB personnel in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Bengal carried out these arrests. 17 prisoners from different regions of Uttar Pradesh were caught, while 13 prisoners from Bihar and Bengal were taken into custody. 5 prisoners were also caught on Wednesday evening. SSB patrolled the border overnight, so that no Nepali prisoner could be allowed to enter the Indian border.
Police teams in Bihar along with SSB jointly patrolled the border districts like West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria and Kishanganj. High alert has been issued in these districts. Bihar Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit made a strategy to deal with infiltration by meeting with SP and DM of all border districts through video conference in the presence of DGP Vinay Kumar. Central agencies have also issued security alert along the Indo-Nepal border and have been asked to increase security along the border.
Meanwhile, the restoration of services of Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal has brought relief to citizens trapped in India. Many families including Rajasthan, who were trapped in Nepal due to GEN-Z protests, are now expected to return home. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has directed Air India and IndiGo to run additional flights in the next few days, so that the trapped passengers can be brought as soon as possible.
