Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday condemned the blast near New Delhi’s Red Fort that killed at least 12 people. He also reaffirmed the ideals of peace and brotherhood that the people of Jammu and Kashmir support.

Condemning the alleged terrorist attack in Delhi, Chief Minister Abdullah said it was only a few people who had ruined peace and brotherhood in the region, and it was not fair to label every Kashmiri as linked to terrorism.

CM Abdullah told reporters, “This is extremely condemnable. No religion can justify killing innocent people so brutally. The investigation will continue, but we must remember one thing – every resident of Jammu and Kashmir is not a terrorist or linked to terrorists. These are only a few people who have always ruined peace and brotherhood here.”

He said, “When we look at every resident of Jammu and Kashmir and every Kashmiri Muslim with the same ideology and think that every one of them is a terrorist, then it is difficult to keep people on the right path.”

He further said that those responsible should be given “severe punishment”, while also ensuring that innocent people are kept out of it.

Commenting on the professional background of the blast accused, including being doctors, the Chief Minister questioned the ‘security failure’ that led to the blast.

He said, “Have we not seen university professors before? Who says educated people are not involved in such things? They are. I am surprised by the fact that, though they were fired, what kind of investigation was done after that? Why was there no prosecution? We can only help the central government to keep the situation normal, and we are doing that.”

Several residents of Jammu and Kashmir have been arrested for allegedly being part of a terror module that was possibly planning multiple terror attacks at different locations.

Meanwhile, fresh CCTV footage has emerged showing key accused Dr Umar Un Nabi entering the national capital via Badarpur border in an i20 car, further tightening the net around the accused in the ongoing blasts investigation.

In the footage, Umar was seen arriving at the Badarpur toll plaza, where he stops his vehicle, takes out cash and hands it over to the toll collector.

Sources said that security agencies have recovered the diaries of Delhi blast case accused Dr. Omar and Dr. Muzammil, in which the dates of November 8 to 12 are mentioned. This indicates that such an incident was being planned during this period.

According to sources, the diary also contained names of around 25 persons, most of whom were residents of Jammu and Kashmir and Faridabad.
