There are different ways to measure beauty in this world. Some say fair complexion, some say sharp features. Some call it polite mannerism, others call it style of reply. The standards of beauty have been changing over the centuries. Sometimes the crown of “Miss World” or “Miss Universe” used to decide the most beautiful, and sometimes the screen of Bollywood used to decide. But now the time of mathematics has come. Yes, you heard it right! Now this is not a beauty contest, but an old mathematical formula that decides whose face is the most beautiful. And in a survey conducted under this unique formula, our Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has made it to the top 10, beating beauties from all over the world. Dr. Julian de Silva, a well-known plastic surgeon from London, further improved this old formula with modern technology. They scanned the faces of beautiful celebrities on a computer, took their measurements, and then combined them with that magic number, 1.618, to give them a score. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is at number 8 in their list.
Know what is the golden ratio
This golden ratio, also called ‘Phi’ (ϕ), is not just a number, but the most beautiful ‘calculation’ of nature. Its value is approximately 1.618. We can think of it as a magical mathematical scale or a ‘perfect recipe’. Just as every good dish has a secret ratio, it is said that the most beautiful things in the world—the petals of flowers, the curvature of a seashell, or the design of ancient buildings—are essentially marked by this ratio of 1.618. This number tells us in what proportion things should be distributed so that they are most pleasing to the eye and appear beautiful.
‘Perfect balance’ of beauty
Now, Dr. De Silva applied this magical mathematics to human faces. They measured the distances between different parts of the face, such as the ratio of the length of the nose to the width of the lips. His simple calculation was that the closer a face came to this ratio of 1.618, the more beautiful it was considered. According to him, this formula shows the “perfect balance” of the face and seeing this proportion calms our mind. That’s why, no matter where we are in the world, we get drawn towards such faces without even thinking.
Aishwarya stood eighth with 93.41 percent marks.
The beauty of former Miss World Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is famous all over the world and she has got tremendous marks in this mathematical formula. This number proves that his charm is not limited to India or Asia, but the balance of his facial expressions is so perfect that even mathematics places him in the top 10. This proves that Aishwarya Rai’s beauty is not just in her ‘blue eyes’ or ‘fair complexion’ but in the perfect proportion of every facial expression, which makes her attractive globally.

Emma Stone became number 1
Emma Stone left everyone behind in the top 10 list with a score of 94.72%. He was declared the “obvious winner” because all his facial expressions were almost perfect. Her jawline got a score of 97%, lips 95.6% and eyebrows 94.2%. Spiderman’s girlfriend Zendaya came second with 94.37% marks. Had it not been for a few minor flaws, it would have been at the top of the list. Her lips were 99.5%, meaning they were almost perfect! His forehead was 98% and eyes were 97.3%. However, the distance between his nose and lips and the shape of his eyebrows reduced his scores.
How is this show different from Miss World/Miss Universe?
In India, beauty has long been determined by a person’s appearance. Fair skin was considered a symbol of beauty, and this influence was visible everywhere from the film industry to advertising. But now this thinking is changing. Color does not matter in beauty pageants, rather the winner is decided on the basis of the personality of the contestants. There are many limitations, from age to height. But the science of the golden ratio breaks all stereotypes and limitations.
This formula does not give marks on the basis of fair or dark complexion. It only looks at the shape and proportions of your face. That’s why the list includes actresses of different races and colors, like Aishwarya Rai (Indian/Asian), Freida Pinto (Indian), Tang Wei (Chinese), Beyoncé (African-American), and Emma Stone. It doesn’t matter what you were asked in the interview, your social work, or what dress you wore. If your facial features are balanced (like Robert Pattinson or Aishwarya Rai), the math will consider you beautiful.
