New Delhi. The Delhi High Court, while hearing the petition of actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, has banned the use of her names and photos. Aishwarya had filed a petition demanding to protect her personality rights, prohibiting illegal use of AI generated photographs. High Court Justice Tejas Karia has directed defendant platforms including e-commerce websites and Google to remove and block the URLs used by Aishwarya Rai’s photo and her name. The court has given 72 hours to do so.
The court said that the use of a famous personality name or its photo without its will is a violation of its personal rights and the person’s right to live with dignity can also have an impact. Let us tell you that on September 9, a petition was filed by her lawyer Sandeep Sethi in the Delhi High Court on behalf of Aishwarya Rai. It was said that Aishwarya’s fake intimate photographs are being used to sell copy, mug, T -shirt and other items. Some people are using their names and photos without permission for their personal benefit. Even many platforms are working by using AI -borne fake photo in sexual scene.
The court considered the case a violation of Aishwarya’s rights and ordered in her favor. On the other hand, Aishwarya’s husband and Abhishek Bachchan has filed a petition seeking protection of his personality rights. Abhishek also alleges that many online platforms are using their photos, voice and name without permission. Advocate Praveen Anand has filed a petition on behalf of Abhishek Bachchan.
