Jodhpur. These days the city is forced to breathe amid heaps of garbage. Due to the negligence and continuous indifferent attitude of the Municipal Corporation, the sanitation system has completely broken down. The situation is such that the smell of garbage and filth has polluted the environment in every locality, every square and intersection. Citizens say that when they complain to the corporation office, they get only one reply – “Employees have been transferred, it will take another 5-7 days for the system to be restored.” But the question is, what about the city in these days? Who will take the responsibility of the people struggling with filth? Situation worse since last four days
Piles of garbage are continuously increasing in many areas of Jodhpur including Pura Mohalla, Kallo Ki Gali, Bhajan Chowki, Kabootar Ka Chowk, Navchowkia, Gundi Ka Mohalla, Fateh Pol. Garbage accumulated on the roadside is not only spreading foul smell, but is also rapidly increasing the risk of mosquitoes and infection.
Local people say that no sweeper has come here for the last four days. Garbage collection vehicles are also missing from these areas. Everyday life is passing amidst filth.
Fear of infection, administration appears to be avoiding accountability
Due to this poor sanitation system, the risk of disease spread has become serious. But the Municipal Corporation administration still seems to be hiding behind excuses like “transfer of employees”.
Citizens are raising questions – “If the disease spreads due to dirt, will the Municipal Corporation take responsibility for it?”
Providing a clean environment is the basic responsibility of the Municipal Corporation. This is not just an administrative process, but a matter related to the health and life of the people.
Demand for immediate action
The residents of the area have demanded from the Municipal Corporation administration that the cleaning system should be streamlined immediately, additional teams should be deployed and the process of garbage disposal should not be delayed. Citizens have clearly said that such negligence is not acceptable in any form.
The city will get relief only when the administration leaves aside statements on paper and takes action on the ground.
