New Delhi. 272 celebrities including former judges and bureaucrats of the country have expressed their displeasure over the allegations of vote theft being made against the Election Commission by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. 16 former judges, 123 retired bureaucrats, 14 former ambassadors and 133 former military officers have written an open letter in support of the Election Commission. In this letter, Congress and opposition leaders have been accused of continuously trying to tarnish the credibility of constitutional institutions through baseless allegations. It is also written in it that India’s democracy is being challenged today through poisonous political rhetoric.

Referring to Rahul Gandhi’s statements in this letter, it has been said that this also shows an attempt to threaten the Election Commission officials. Those who have written letters about opposition parties including Congress have said that in the states where they get favorable election results, everything is fine, but in the states where unfavorable results are received, they start blaming the Election Commission and making statements against it. This exposes political opportunism.

While supporting the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, it has also been said that for this the Election Commission adopted a completely transparent process. Names of fake voters have been removed, new voters have been included in the voting list, even the court has verified the monitoring methods. In such a situation, pointing fingers at the Election Commission and accusing it of working in favor of BJP is the political frustration of the opposition. The letter has also appealed to the Election Commission to maintain transparency and if necessary, take the help of law to protect its credibility and reputation.
