New Delhi, 7 December (IANS). Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday paid tribute to former Mizoram Governor Swaraj Kaushal, and recalled his public service and dedication to the national interest.
CM Rekha Gupta wrote in a post on social media platform
Swaraj Kaushal’s simple, noble and sensitive personality will always be remembered. As a former Governor of Mizoram, a renowned jurist and a Rajya Sabha MP, his contribution as a great Karmayogi dedicated to public service will always remain indelible in our memories.
It is a prayer to God to give place to the departed soul at His holy feet and to grant patience and strength to sister Bansuri Swaraj and her family in this difficult time.
Kaushal, husband of former Union minister late Sushma Swaraj and father of BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj, died on Thursday at the age of 73.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over his demise and said in a message on social media, “Saddened by the demise of Swaraj Kaushal. He made his mark as a lawyer and as someone who used the legal profession to improve the lives of the underprivileged.”
Recalling Kaushal’s career, PM Modi said, “He became the youngest Governor of India and left an indelible mark on the people of Mizoram during his tenure. His wisdom as a parliamentarian was also remarkable. My thoughts are with his daughter Bansuri and other family members in this hour of grief.”
