As part of its plan to launch 15 new cars in India by 2030, Toyota is set to introduce several new SUVs next year
Toyota Kirloskar Motor continues to perform well in the Indian market due to its wide product range, strong brand identity and strategic partnership with Suzuki. The company is working on a big plan to launch 15 new models by 2030, and about five of these new models may be seen on Indian roads next year.
1&2. New Gen Hilux & Fortuner
First of all, talking about the new generation Hilux and Fortuner, Toyota has recently introduced the new ninth generation Hilux globally. This has now increased people’s curiosity about the new Fortuner, because both have a lot of similarities mechanically. The new Hilux has a bolder and more modern design, featuring a vertical stance, larger front profile, slim interconnected headlamps and a square front design.
The same styling can be seen in the next-generation Fortuner as well. The Hilux is offered with multiple powertrain options like petrol, diesel, 48V hybrid and fully electric BEV, which opens up a lot of possibilities for the upcoming Fortuner as well. The new Hilux may come to India next year and the new generation Fortuner is also not far away.
3. New Land Cruiser Prado
The third model is the new Land Cruiser Prado, which is much talked about in the international markets and will probably come to India as a CBU (completely imported) unit next year. It is built on the TNGA-F ladder-frame platform and comes in a hybrid setup with a 2.4-litre turbo petrol engine paired with a 1.87 kWh battery, producing a total power of 326 hp.
4. Urban Cruiser BEV
The company’s fourth model will be the Urban Cruiser BEV, which is the Toyota version of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. This electric SUV, presented at the Brussels Motor Show, uses the same battery and platform as the e Vitara and will give a range of more than 500 km on a single charge.
5. Updated Urban Cruiser Hyrider
