A good news has come for India amid the ongoing tension between Iran and Israel. Indian flagged LPG tanker Pine Gas has crossed the difficult route of the Strait of Hormuz and reached India safely. Due to the war, it took about three weeks for this ship to cross the route, whereas under normal circumstances this journey would have been completed in a week. During this, the Indian Navy provided security and evacuated the ship through a safe corridor. At present there is tension in the Gulf region, but the Indian Government and Navy are continuously monitoring their ships.
How did Indian sailors cross the dangerous path?
The 27 crew members present on the Pine Gas ship lived in fear for about three weeks. The ship’s Chief Officer Sohan Lal said that he used to see missiles and drones flying above him every day. Considering the security, the Indian Navy advised the ship to go through the Larak Route instead of the main Hormuz route. The ship was allowed to pass through a narrow channel near the coast of Iran because the main route was prone to mines. Indian Navy warships continuously guided the ship during its nearly 20-hour journey from the Gulf of Oman to the Arabian Sea.

Iran has made it clear that it will give safe passage to Indian ships, but some rules have been made for this. Now ships passing through this route will have to remain in touch with the Iranian Navy. The tanker was given permission to proceed only after the consent of the Indian authorities and the ship owners. According to the Ministry of Government of India, ‘Operation Sankalp’ is being conducted to ensure the safety of all Indian sailors present in the area.
