Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that laws or rules should be for the convenience of the common people and should not cause inconvenience to any innocent Indian. Addressing the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) parliamentary party meeting here, Modi said reforms should be done not only in the economy but in every sector of the society.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that Prime Minister Modi gave “very good guidelines” to the MPs. All NDA MPs attended this meeting.

According to Rijiju, the Prime Minister said that no Indian citizen should face any problem due to any law or rule and everyone should ensure that the rules and regulations are for the convenience of the common people and to improve their lives.

The Union Minister said, “The Prime Minister said that laws should not be a burden on anyone, but should be for the convenience of the people. Rules and regulations should be there to improve the system, not to harass people. There should not be any such law which causes unnecessary trouble to the people.

He said Modi told all NDA MPs that they should work together to increase development work at triple the pace and connect with youth, sports and other activities. Rijiju said that at the beginning of the meeting, Modi was congratulated for the NDA’s landslide victory in the recently concluded Bihar elections. Union Minister Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President J. P. Nadda was present.

Janata Dal-United (JD-U) leader Sanjay Jha and Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLMO) chief Upendra Kushwaha congratulated the Prime Minister by garlanding him. On Monday, a delegation of NDA leaders from Bihar had met Modi and congratulated him for the alliance’s landslide victory in the state assembly elections. During the meeting, the Prime Minister told the NDA MPs that after the ruling alliance’s big victory in the Bihar Assembly elections, they will have to work with more enthusiasm for the welfare of the people. “With great victory comes great responsibility,” he said.

The NDA won 202 seats in the 243-member Bihar Assembly elections held last month, paving the way for JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar to become chief minister for the 10th time. Among the alliance partners, BJP won 89 seats, JD(U) 85, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) 19, Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) five and RLMO four.
