Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday claimed that the opposition had trashed the ruling party during the debate on ‘Vande Mataram’ and election reforms in Parliament and that Home Minister Amit Shah was mentally disturbed.
Speaking to reporters in the Parliament complex, he alleged that the entire machinery of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was involved in ‘vote theft’. The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha said, “We blasted them (the ruling party) in the discussion in Parliament on ‘Vande Mataram’ and Intensive Special Revision (SIR) of the voter list. Amit Shah was mentally disturbed in the House and was under a lot of pressure. He even abused in the House. The reason behind this is that he and his entire system were involved in ‘vote theft’.
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi held a meeting with Congress members of the Lower House on Friday, in which he praised the performance of party MPs during the discussion on ‘Vande Mataram’ and election reforms during the current winter session, saying that the government is now under pressure on both these subjects. Party sources gave this information.
Rahul Gandhi held this meeting with Congress Lok Sabha members in the Parliament House complex, in which tribute was also paid to former Home Minister Shivraj Patil. Patil died on Friday at the age of 90. After the meeting, Congress sources said, “The Leader of Opposition said that the government is under pressure on the issues of Vande Mataram and election reforms and our MPs performed well during the discussion.”
