Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, met representatives of labor unions across the country in the Jan Sansad on Friday, in which he expressed deep concern over the four new labor codes. The conversation focused on the impact of the codes on workers’ rights, collective bargaining, and the future of organized labor.

On Friday, Gandhi expressed concern over the worsening air pollution crisis in northern India and other parts of the country and called for a detailed parliamentary discussion to develop a systematic, long-term plan to deal with the problem. Addressing the Lok Sabha, he said most major cities were “living under a blanket of toxic air”, and warned that millions of children were suffering from lung diseases and the health of future generations was at grave risk.
Gandhi said, “This is not an ideological issue,” and emphasized that air pollution is a challenge on which both the government and the opposition can agree. He proposed a constructive debate in Parliament, free from political bitterness, followed by a city-wise, systematic plan to tackle pollution over the next five to ten years under the leadership of the Prime Minister.
