New Delhi, December 19 (IANS). The winter season also brings with itself many diseases. In this season, it is very important to keep the body warm and strengthen the immunity. With a proper and balanced diet, immunity can be boosted and the body can be kept warm.
The Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India has given some simple and natural dietary suggestions for winter, by adopting which you can keep yourself healthy and energetic. Consuming ginger is especially beneficial in cold weather. Ginger produces warmth in the body and helps in increasing immunity. Ginger can be added to tea, used in vegetables or taken as a decoction. Eating a small amount of ginger daily helps prevent problems like cold or infection.
Jaggery is also considered the best natural energy source in winter. It provides instant energy to the body and increases the ability to fight cold. Use jaggery instead of sugar as sweetener. Eating jaggery tea, jaggery roti or jaggery laddu is not only tasty but also healthy.
Dry fruits are nature’s special gift for winter. Dry fruits like almonds, cashews, figs, raisins and walnuts provide the necessary warmth to the body. The healthy fats and nutrients present in them reduce the effects of cold. Eating a handful of dry fruits daily keeps the body strong and increases immunity.
Consumption of ghee is also beneficial. Ghee provides essential nutrition to the body and keeps the joints healthy, thereby providing relief from stiffness and pain in winter. Add some ghee to food or eat it by applying it on roti. It also improves digestion. You can also eat jaggery and ghee mixed, it is very beneficial. Sesame and flax seeds are very useful in winter. They are rich in omega-3 fatty acids and other nutrients, which keep the body warm. Sesame laddu, sesame chikki or flaxseed can be eaten by mixing it in salad.
Apart from this, consumption of coarse grains like millet and ragi is extremely beneficial in winter. These grains provide warmth and energy to the body for a long time. Prepare millet roti, ragi roti or khichdi and eat it. Apart from being nutritious, these grains are also good for digestion.
According to experts, these diets not only keep the body warm but also strengthen the immunity, making it easier to prevent seasonal diseases.
