Aadhar Card and PAN Card Link: If you have not yet linked your Aadhar Card and PAN Card, then complete this task immediately. Now only 7 days are left to do this. In any case, this process will have to be completed by 31 December 2025.
If Aadhaar-PAN is not linked within the stipulated time, your PAN card may be deactivated. This means that PAN card will be of no use and you may have to face many problems.
Linking is necessary for these PAN holders
According to the notification issued by the Income Tax Department in April, it is mandatory for those who were issued PAN card through Aadhaar number before October 1, 2024, to link Aadhaar and PAN.
Its last date has been fixed as 31 December 2025 and the chances of it going ahead are considered very less. If someone is not able to link by this date, his PAN can be deactivated from January 1, 2026.
What will be the harm if PAN is deactivated?
If PAN Card is deactivated, then first of all there will be difficulty in filing income tax return. Apart from this, tax refunds may get stuck and banking and other financial transactions will also be affected.
The Central Board of Direct Taxes i.e. CBDT has also clarified that those who had taken PAN on the basis of Aadhaar Enrollment ID, will also be required to link PAN with the actual Aadhaar number by the stipulated time.
It is very easy to link Pan-Aadhaar
You do not need to go anywhere to link PAN and Aadhaar. This work can be done online sitting at home. For this, log on to the official website of Income Tax Department www.incometax.gov.in.
After opening the website, go to the Quick Links section and click on the Link Aadhaar option. Now a new window will open, where you will have to enter your PAN number, Aadhaar number and mobile number.
After this select the option ‘I validate my Aadhaar details’. As soon as you do this, OTP will come on your registered mobile number. Fill the OTP and click on Validate.
Once this process is completed, your PAN card will be successfully linked to Aadhar card.
