Chennai, 25 December (IANS). The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Tamil Nadu has announced that special voter enrollment camps will be organized across the state for four days to help eligible citizens get their names included in the voter list.

Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik said the move is being implemented as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Under this process, the draft voter list was published on 19th of this month. After the publication of the draft list, the period for receiving claims and objections will remain open till January 1, 2026. During this period, eligible citizens can submit applications for inclusion of new names in the voter list, correction in existing entries, deletion of ineligible names, or changes in personal details.

To make the nomination process easier and more accessible, special camps will be organized across four days, 27 January (Saturday), 28 January (Sunday), 3 February (Saturday), and 4 February (Sunday), at all polling stations in Tamil Nadu.

On these days, booth level officers and election officials will be present at the polling stations to guide the applicants and collect the filled forms. Citizens whose names are not in the draft voter list, as well as those who have recently completed 18 years of age and are eligible to vote, can apply for inclusion of names by submitting Form 6 along with self-declaration affidavit. This provision is to ensure that all eligible voters get the opportunity to register without any difficulty.

Additionally, any voter whose name is already in the voter list of any assembly constituency can raise objection to the inclusion of a name or request for deletion of an existing entry by submitting Form 7. This process helps in maintaining the accuracy and reliability of the voter list.

Voters who have changed their place of residence in the same assembly constituency, or who wish to make corrections in details such as name, age, address, or other details can submit an application using Form 8.

The same form can also be used to request corrections in the Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC).

The Chief Electoral Officer has appealed to all eligible citizens to make full use of the special camps and ensure that their details are correctly recorded in the voter list. He emphasized that a comprehensive and accurate voter list is very important for free and fair elections in the state.
