Madurai, December 27 (IANS). Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) leader Anbumani Ramadoss has hit out at the ruling party DMK and Chief Minister MK Stalin after nearly 97 lakh names were removed from the draft voter list in Tamil Nadu. He said that removing fake voters from the list will make a difference, but DMK has done PhD in fake voting.
Speaking to IANS, PMK leader Anbumani said, “DMK knows very well where the fake voters are and how to use them. They have complete accounts of it. In Chennai, it has been found that out of 40 lakh voters, there are more than 15 lakh fake voters. That is, almost one-third of the voters are fake. These include people who have died or have two votes each. Such additional votes exist.”
He further said, “I will not directly call them fake voters, but their names should be removed. In Chief Minister Stalin’s constituency alone, names of one lakh voters have been removed. This work should have been done much earlier.”
Regarding the draft voter list, Anbumani Ramadoss said that now when it is being said in Tamil Nadu that the names of 97 lakh voters have been removed, along with this special camps are being organized. These camps will be held this Saturday-Sunday and next Saturday-Sunday. If someone’s name has been removed and he is legally eligible, he can go and fill the form and get his name registered in the voter list again.
The PMK leader estimated that around 80 to 85 lakh voters would be removed from the final voter list.
He said that the purification of voter list will benefit parties like ours, because parties like DMK have taken wrong advantage of it. Anbumani said, “In the last elections, the margin of victory was somewhere 500 votes, somewhere 1,000 votes, somewhere 2,000 or 1,800 votes. If there are 10,000 or 20,000 fake voters in a constituency, like there were 44,000 fake voters in the Erode by-election, then when we clean up this system, parties like ours and the general public will benefit from it and DMK will be completely defeated in this election.”
Anbumani said that we still have three months before the elections. In the coming weeks you will see a strong alliance forming in Tamil Nadu. This will be a mega alliance. The PMK leader said the DMK won the last three elections in Tamil Nadu because the opposition was fragmented.
