Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised Operation Sindoor in the 129th episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ and said that “today’s India does not compromise on its security.”
Addressing the nation in his radio program, Prime Minister Modi said that pictures of love and dedication towards the country emerged from all over the country.
Acknowledging the country’s achievements in 2025, the Prime Minister said, “2025 has given many moments that every Indian can be proud of. From national security to sports, from scientific laboratories to the world’s biggest stages, India has left its mark.”
He further said, “This year, Operation Sindoor became a symbol of pride for every Indian. The world clearly saw that today’s India does not compromise on its security. During Operation Sindoor, pictures of love and devotion towards Mother India emerged from every corner of the country. People expressed their feelings in their own ways.”
In response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives, India launched Operation Sindoor to target terrorist camps in Pakistan.
According to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, India successfully destroyed nine major terror launchpads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) by targeting Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Hizbul Mujahideen hideouts and killed over 100 terrorists.
Pakistan retaliated following Operation Sindoor, resulting in a four-day conflict from 7 to 10 May.
Shocked by this heavy loss, Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) called the Indian DGMO and it was agreed between both sides that any firing and military action on land, air and sea would be stopped on 10 May.
Prime Minister Modi further said that the same feeling towards the nation was seen on the 150th anniversary of the national anthem Vande Mataram.
He said, “The same sentiment was seen on the completion of 150 years of Vande Mataram. I had requested all of you to send your messages and suggestions with the hashtag #Vande Mataram150. The countrymen enthusiastically participated in this campaign.”
Earlier on November 7, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the year-long commemoration of the national anthem “Vande Mataram” at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi. The Prime Minister also released a commemorative postage stamp and coin on the occasion.
Prime Minister Modi also launched a portal to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’.
