Peter Navaro, the US White House business advisor, said on Monday that India will have to come to some point in trade talks with the US, otherwise it will not be good for Delhi.
Navarro said in an interview with the show ‘Real Americaz Voice’ that the Indian government is angry with him and described India as the ‘Maharaja’ of Tariff.
Navaro said, “But this is absolutely true. Their tariff on America is the highest than any big country in the world. We have to deal with it.”
He said that India had never bought oil from Moscow before Russia invaded Ukraine, “Except that a very small amount of oil was bought.”
He said, “And then they get into this method of profiteering, in which Russian refineries come to Indian earth and make profits,” and American taxpayers have to send more money for struggle.
Referring to the “Great” trade agreements made by the US with the European Union, Japan, South Korea, Philippines and Indonesia, he said that “all these countries are working with us” because they realize that they are taking advantage of America more than the need of America and also because they need American markets.
He warned, “I think India will have to come at some point or the other. And if it does not, it will compromise with Russia and China, and the result will not be good for India.”
Regarding additional restrictions, China, which is the largest buyer of Russian oil, said, “We are all running on a thin line.
He said, “Europe will definitely have to stop buying Russian oil. With China, we have imposed more than 50% tariffs on them, and we are trying our best in conversation to protect them without harming American people.”
He further said, “And this is the art of Kabuki and diplomacy we are adopting. And you just have to trust Trump.”
