New Delhi, January 5 (IANS). Nowadays typhoid has become a common but serious problem. This disease spreads especially due to dirty water, unhygienic food and bad lifestyle. Often people think that only an infected person gets the disease, but in reality some of your daily habits can also cause typhoid.
Small mistakes like eating food without washing hands, eating open or stale food, not taking care of cleanliness or drinking contaminated water at home weaken the digestive system of our body in the long run, due to which diseases like typhoid easily enter the body.
This is a bacterial infection caused by Salmonella Typhi bacteria. This bacteria spreads to the intestine, blood and liver-spleen and causes problems like high fever, stomach pain, weakness, loss of appetite and white coating on the tongue. If not treated on time, it can also cause intestinal ulcers, internal bleeding and other serious problems.
In Ayurveda, typhoid has been called ‘intermittent fever’. According to Ayurveda, when our digestive power becomes weak, then germs easily grow in the body. Therefore, for the prevention and treatment of typhoid, Ayurveda has emphasized on principles like Jwarnashan, Agni Deepna, digestion improvement and vigor-enhancement.
For example, Giloy juice helps in increasing immunity and reducing fever. The decoction of basil and black pepper is very effective in destroying bacteria. Liquorice, clove water and Sudarshan powder also help in improving body strength and digestion.
Also, in Ayurveda it is advised to take special care of daily habits. Drinking clean water, eating cooked and fresh food, washing hands, eating light food that improves digestion like thin khichdi of moong dal, buttermilk or ripe banana, and consuming Ayurvedic herbs regularly are very effective in preventing typhoid.
