Uttarakhand government has taken a big step to further promote tourism in the state. Two tourism villages will be developed in every district of the state. For this, the Tourism Secretary has issued orders to the concerned officials.
The objective of these tourism villages is to encourage rural tourism and strengthen the local economy. Traditional culture, local handicrafts, natural beauty and rural lifestyle will be showcased in such villages, so that the tourists can get an attractive and memorable experience.
Special task forces will be formed in every district to develop villages as tourism villages. It will be the responsibility of this task force to implement the scheme of development of basic facilities in the selected villages, promotion of tourist attraction sites and providing employment to the local people through tourism.
Tourism department officials say that this initiative will not only boost tourism in the state but will also create new employment opportunities in rural areas. Besides, it will also prove helpful in preserving the cultural and natural heritage of Uttarakhand.
The government aims to ensure that this scheme not only provides better experience to tourists but also improves the economic condition of rural communities and promotes sustainable tourism model in the state.
