New Delhi, January 14 (IANS). On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has given a big gift to the people of the national capital. On Wednesday he inaugurated 81 new Ayushman Arogya Mandirs across Delhi.
The Chief Minister said that with the opening of these new centres, the citizens of Delhi will be able to get better, accessible and respectable health services near their homes.
While talking to the media after the inauguration, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that earlier 238 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs were already functioning in Delhi. Now after the addition of 81 new centres, there will be a total of 319 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in the capital.
He said, “Today, on the day of Makar Sankranti, 81 new Arogya Mandirs have been started. With this, the people of Delhi will get more comfortable and easily available health facilities.”
The Chief Minister said that Ayushman Arogya Mandirs work like primary health centers and play an important role in strengthening the health system of Delhi.
He said that these centers will reduce the increasing pressure on big hospitals and will help in timely meeting the everyday health needs of the common people. Now citizens will not have to go far to big hospitals for treatment of minor diseases.
Rekha Gupta also said that the Delhi government aims to establish a total of 1,100 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs across the city and work is being done rapidly in this direction. More centers will be launched in the coming months.
On this occasion, BJP MLA Satish Upadhyay said that the way Ayushman Arogya temples are being constructed is commendable.
He told that this is the eighth health temple in Bhim Nagar and Malviya Nagar assembly constituencies and two more health temples are to be built here.
A day earlier, Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh had also given important information regarding this scheme.
He had said that the expansion of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs will further strengthen accessible and preventive health services in Delhi. He clarified that after the addition of 81 new centres, the total number of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in Delhi will increase to 319.
The Health Minister said that this initiative is being taken under the long-term primary health roadmap of the capital, under which a target has been set to establish more than 1,100 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. He said that the Delhi government under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is working in accordance with the national vision of ‘Health for All’.
Pankaj Kumar Singh said that free doctor consultation, essential medicines and testing facilities will be available in every Ayushman Arogya Mandir. Along with this, advice related to diabetes, blood pressure, cancer screening, maternal and child health services, vaccination, children’s growth monitoring, lifestyle counselling, mental health services, yoga and nutrition will also be provided.
He said that these mohalla level health centers will be extremely beneficial for women, elderly and poor families as it will provide them relief from traveling long distances and long queues at hospitals.
The Health Minister also informed that under the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Ayushman Bharat-Vaya Vandana Yojana, a total of 6,91,530 health cards have been issued in Delhi till January 13, 2026, which includes 2,65,895 Vaya Vandana cards.
Additionally, Delhi now has 189 empaneled hospitals, including private, Delhi government and central government hospitals, where needy families are getting cashless treatment facilities.
