Chandigarh. Haryana Energy Minister Anil Vij has clearly said that the news published in some newspapers, which claim closure of Kalyanpur-Badlapara coal block located in Jharkhand and allotted to Haryana, is completely misleading and factually incorrect. Quoting official sources, he said that no closure of the coal block has been done. Anil Vij said that the actual situation is that only a show-cause notice was issued by the Coal Ministry to Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited, seeking clarification on certain procedural aspects related to the coal block. HPGCL has submitted its detailed reply within the stipulated time limit and has also requested not to cancel the allocation of the coal block. Giving information, the Energy Minister said that a Mine Developer and Operator (MDO) has already been appointed by HPGCL for the development of the coal block. Land survey and boundary work has been completed, while drilling work is currently in progress. Besides this, other developmental activities have also been initiated as per the agreed time-frame and are continuing.
Vij said that as per the current project schedule, this coal block is likely to start supplying coal to Yamunanagar Thermal Power Plant by the year 2030. He clarified that issuing show-cause notice and termination of coal block are two different things. Show-cause notice is issued only to seek clarifications and does not in any way amount to cancellation of allotment. At present the allocation of the coal block is completely secured and the development work is going on as per plan.
The Energy Minister appealed to the media persons to verify the facts before publishing such news and also advised the general public not to be misled by unconfirmed or speculative information.
