New Delhi, January 17 (IANS). Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said on Saturday that the world’s cheapest mobile data is available in India and it is also being used the most. All this has been possible because of the strong digital infrastructure.

The Union Minister said that at present there are more than 120 crore mobile subscribers in the country and it is expected that 4G network will reach every village by June this year.

Jyotiraditya Scindia wrote on social media platform

Government telecom company BSNL has so far installed 97,068 4G towers, out of which 93,511 towers have been operational by the end of October 2025. BSNL is preparing to convert all its 4G towers to 5G in the coming few months.

Meanwhile, 5G services have started in all the states and union territories of the country. At present, 5G network is available in 99.9 percent districts of the country. By October 2025, 5.08 lakh 5G Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) have been installed in villages and cities of the country.

So far, more than 31 lakh base transceiver stations have been installed across the country. The government has launched several schemes to reduce the problem of call drops and improve internet facilities in vulnerable areas.

These schemes include BharatNet project, under which broadband is being provided to gram panchayats and villages. Apart from this, a scheme to provide mobile services in leftist extremism affected areas and aspirational districts is also being implemented.

The government has also launched 4G Saturation Scheme to provide 4G services to all un-networked villages. Also, Gatishakti communication portal and right of way rules have been implemented, so that the telecom infrastructure can develop rapidly.

Telecom infrastructure in the country is being expanded by private companies as well as government companies.

Jyotiraditya Scindia said that to advance new technologies, it is necessary to have perfect coordination between spectrum, equipment, apps and all areas related to sustainable development.

He also said that spectrum policy will play the most important role in India’s 6G strategy. India has already made spectrum changes several times and more major steps will be taken in the future.
