Kolkata, March 6 (IANS). Trinamool Congress (TMC) general secretary and party’s Lok Sabha MP Abhishek Banerjee late on Friday evening wrote a letter to Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar demanding daily publication of supplementary lists of final voters, which is the list published on February 28, as per the progress of adjudication of voters identified under the logical anomaly category.

The final voter list of West Bengal, from which 60 lakh cases sent for judicial adjudication were removed, was published on February 28. As per the earlier order of the Supreme Court, the supplementary list will be published at the right time. Now, Banerjee has demanded that a supplementary list be published daily as per the daily progress of judicial adjudication.

In his letter, a copy of which is with news agency IANS, the Trinamool Congress general secretary expressed concern over transparency and procedural compliance in the publication of electoral rolls for the 2026 assembly elections in West Bengal. According to him, till now no clear notification has come to confirm that the voters included through daily supplementary electoral roll will be considered as part of the final electoral roll.

In the letter, he also said that the Supreme Court’s instructions mandating daily publication of supplementary electoral rolls showing the results of adjudication have not been followed. According to Banerjee, there was a lack of transparency in the decisions of the authorities adjudicating on claims and objections, which were not being made public, which according to her was a violation of the Supreme Court order.

Banerjee also said that in the absence of proper orders explaining why a voter’s name was rejected or deleted, citizens were not given the opportunity to seek legal help.

Trinamool Congress claimed in a statement issued late on Friday evening, “Our National General Secretary has demanded immediate corrective steps to ensure transparency, fairness and strict adherence to the court’s directions in the electoral process. The fight will continue to protect the democratic rights of the people of Bengal.”
